Leerone - To Fill the Void

The Acadia sits across the 400 Bar, but you wouldn't know it was called the Acadia as the signage reads "RIVERSIDE". I've seen this place from the outside through its numerous large windows and looking in at the band on stage.

I don't know how often these "Diverse Emerging Music Organization" (DEMO) shows goes on, but they seem to operate on donations and benefits local artists. I caught the last few songs of Backstories, a full band and all nicely dressed. I don't really know the band's back stories (haha), I'll bet they get that a lot. They have some songs available for download on their myspace.

Eli Ratner said it was his first time playing (I thought he meant his first gig ever), but I guess he meant at the Acadia. He seems really comfortable on stage with his acoustic guitar. It would seem, according to his myspace, that he's normally a duo with Peter VonDeLinde.

It's clear that the real star is Leerone, who earlier in the day appeared in St Paul's Station 4. The report I got was that her keyboard "got messed up" and she ended up renting a full Yamaha keyboard.

Her set was understandably short, lasting no more than 45 minutes, and included a "made up" a cappella song that's not written on the set list.

Highlight of the show seems to be the announcer calling her "Leeroni" and "Leerona".

I forgot to recount an actual conversation I had with a McDonald's ~~serf~~ employee a few weeks back while I was on an inspection trip. I walked up to the counter where she stood attentively, awaiting my order. Then the following mind-bender occurred:

Me: Yes, hello, this is a to-go order. May I please have a bottle of water and one apple pie?

Employee: Do you want two pies? It's cheaper...

Me: Two pies is cheaper than one pie?

Employee: Well, you get two for a dollar.

Me: And just how much is one pie?

Employee: Um, ninety cents.

Me: [Pauses to wonder how two pies are "cheaper"] I think I'll go with just the one pie I wanted, and save the ten cents, thank you very much.

Employee: OK. And is this for here or to-go?

Why not watch me blabber away about Noel Gallagher's Top Ten Bands OF ALL TIME and why he said that "no female artists" were allowed on Sky News tonight?

The show is Sky.com News. If you remember I was on there about a year ago...and, well, it was sort of awkward.

And I didn't know what I was talking about, and I didn't have time to do my hair or makeup and had to dash-out of work to find a better shirt to wear.

OH! And they didn't tell me which camera to look into and I was flustered and scared of BEING ON LIVE TV.

Now at least I sort of know what I'm talking about, have had 4 hours notice and think I might even wash my hair.

If you'd like to watch me, I should me on about 7:45 on Sky News.

Or, I think you can watch me online here or maybe here. I'm not sure if they've changed it since last time I was on.

OK. Off to go stare at my closet in a fit of panic...

**Update** So! It went OK. Better than last time...except they fucked up TWICE and said I was from "buzzbitch.com". Oh and I referred to Noel Gallagher as NOAH Gallagher! LOL Oops. Whatever. It went pretty well, I think my hair looked better than last time...
